Percussion boy

It's the long weekend, I awake and am lying in bed, lazy. Ivan comes in and climbs in the sheets with me. He starts humming, a tune. (one of his many talents). Soon, he starts using his feet to stomp the beat, against the head board.

I must say his sense of rhythm is good. And I am being treated to music, while I lay lazy in bed this morning.

It's always a blessing to enjoy my boy whenever I can. He may have autism, but moments like this, it's hidden well. And I crave for such moments, when he seems as normal as can be.

Dinner with Sasa

Today, I had a dinner night out at Mad Jack with SaSa.

Here is Sarah with her pasta Carbonara.

Doesn't it look so yummy.

I have watched Nigella make Pavlova on TV, but have never had one.
So this was my dessert choice.

It's really sweet and rich with full cream.

And Sarah ordered this chocolate dessert.
It has rich, sinful chocolate oozing from inside the cake.

Scream 4

Amongst the many friends that I have, only one of them is my horror/ ghost movie buddy. We enjoy watching them together, without annoying each other. Trust me, I have watched such movies, with very touchy and squeaky people too. As usual, with this friend, it's always a last minute idea. The last time she called me at 11.30pm to catch a ghost movie showing at 12am, on Friday the 13th. Crazy right! Yup, we had fun. Today, she did it again. This time we figured, we would watch Scream 4.

So I hoped out of my PJs and got dressed.

While waiting for the doors to open, I headed to get some "Kacang Putih". Yeah, old school cinema snacks. As I was making my purchase, my friend, snapped these shots. Later, we looked at them and added tag lines to them, and LOL. I told her that I would update it on my blog, to remember this day.

Come on quick, let me get my cash, I need these now.

What's your problem I ordered three & only got two...

Yay, got the Kacang Putih, now can watch movie.
Okay the tag lines, are so made up okay.
We just having fun, like the next photo.

Ahhh... I thought I saw the murderer from Scream 4 after me.
Oh no, it's just the smell from the ladies...so bad!!!

Well, needless to say we had a blast of a time. Good times, good friends and a good movie.

Our day out

Today I took my boys out. Brought them down to NEX. Thought that Ivan would be happy to visit the library. And that he did. We walked around and stopped at Popular, I needed to pick up some scrapbook paper. While I was getting that, Ivan found a book that he had been looking for many months. It was very surprising, he had been asking for this book for months and he just could never find it. Now, finally it's there, and the very last copy.

I know I told him that I was not going to buy any books from Popular, as we had already borrowed some books. Future more, he doesn't read them. It's just for his fancy. But the puppy dog look on his face, was one that I always have a hard time resisting. So I caved.... But look at how happy he is.

Isn't he so proud, with this find.

It's awesome man...

After that, I got Immanuel to choose a place to eat. He chose Carl's Jr. I warned him that the servings were HUGE. And yes they were HUGE.

My salad was so rich and tasty.

Here's the kids size cheeseburger.

Yummy fries and rings.

And Immanuel having some fun with the onion rings.

No samples please...

I had been so busy the past few days updating my other blog, that I had no time for anything. Today, I finished work and came home so happy. Normally, I come home exhausted, but today I was contented and happy that I had achieved something at school.

If you recall when you were young and was asked to draw a house, you probably drew the same kind of house most of them in your class would have drawn. I found myself drawing a square house, with a triangular roof, with two small square windows in the center and a rectangular door. Does it ring a bell?

Well today, I was teaching my class about shapes. For an activity, we were going to make our own 2D houses. I refrained from having any sample work. So, they had to rely solely on their creativity.

I was so pleased with the result. Take a look.

The norm looking house, except for the interlinking triangular windows.
This one doesn't have a square home base, it's two circles, instead.
This one has the windows in the attic.
This one is a creative way to live.
Yet another creative way to live.
This one has two roofs.

It's for reasons like these that I love my job. The satisfaction that comes from teaching is priceless.

A birthday celebration

Last night, a good friend of mine called me up, scheduled for a last minute meeting. It was her boy's birthday, and we thought we should get together to celebrate it. It had been a long time since we caught up anyway. Since both our families moved out of Sembawang, we hardly caught up.

She and her boys came over for breakfast. We went to McDonald's to have a good breakfast. After that we came back to my place for game and fun for the boys, and chit chat for the mums. It was great having her and her boys over. They are like family and we know them for a long time.

We dragged the boys away from the WII, to leave for lunch. We went over to Joe's for a good lunch. Here are some shots.
 Here's the birthday boy.
Here's the birthday boy with his mum.
That's all of us...
While everyone else had ice cream for dessert, I had the new cake on the block.

The best part of the day was, getting wet in the rain. We waited awhile after lunch for the rain to cease. But after a while, we thought we would head home. As we started walking, we realized that the umbrellas were not really helping. We were all partially wet, but it was so fun, the strong wind blowing the rain onto us, the gushing water coming down hill as we were walking up hill. We were laughing out loud and had fun, jumping into the puddles.

When we reached back, we dried off and continued the day with fun. I suggested a cup of hot coco and a blanket would go so well, but my friend suggested a horror movie would so go with that scenario.

Luscious Lips

Many of us have make up habits that we cannot break. For some it's eye liner, and for some it's lip gloss.

Always wanted luscious healthy lips? Choosing the right lip gloss is important. My make up routine is a lengthy one. I follow through with many steps. I have always been using lip balm before my lipstick. It's troublesome I know. But on my lazy days, I leave the house with a good caress of lip gloss. And after trying so many brands, as I am fussy about what I put on my face. I chanced upon this wonderful product, that I love so much. I would definitely recommend it to everyone I know, I have been using it for years.
The Plum Blossom Lip Gloss, it not only smells great, but it lasts a reasonable amount of time too. When you live in an island like Singapore, you will so need this to keep those kissers of your healthy and sexy.

you are not alone

After attending the talk on Autism yesterday, I got pretty disturbed. Although the talk was boring, it stirred up so much of hidden emotions. Parent's of children with special needs, will tell you similar stories.

We all try very hard to face life, strong. Many a times, we are in denial or will try to escape the reality of the situation. And all it takes is a moment of memory to lapse back into that void. A dark tunnel, that is suffocating with painful memories. And trust me getting out of that void, isn't easy. For me it takes a lot  of prayer, alone time and some tears. Once I am out, I try very hard to lock that void and throw away the key.
It's been nine years now, that the hubs and I carry this burden of autism 24/7. The autism is a burden, but our son is a blessing. With him we have experienced and learn so much. He is such a darling, but the autism in him hinders him from being the best he can be.

I know that my struggles in life are just too many, but the good Lord has promised us, that He would never test us beyond our limit. And yes, He has equipt me with precious helpers. My darling husband, who has put up with so much with me and my side effects from the autism.
This picture, was such a cute snapshot.
It reminds me of my dearest hubby, who has always been by my side throughout everything.
Another sweetheart is my elder son, who understands his brother and helps me so much. He is such a wonderful sibling support for younger brother, Ivan. With these two my side and all the unseen angels, I know I am loved. With that I can face tomorrow afresh.

Breakfast @ McD's

Last night I went for a talk on Autism (yawn, yawn). It puzzles me to think that so many parent with pre-teen kids, who have autism, as so concerned about how their kids got the autism. Rather than how they can help them now. After a tired night, I made sure I got up early today. I was planning some family time with my boys. We went down to McDonald's  for some good old fashion pancakes.

We had Hotcakes and enjoyed it, especially Ivan with his maple syrup.

And my favourite, the Himalayan Tea Latte.
We had a great family time. For the Gomez family, food and good times always go together. As I had been so busy lately, this was the time Immanuel got to fill me in on all the new exciting things happening in his life.
