Eggs Away

This week I am introducing the Letter E to my three year olds. With much that was introduced, we were scheduled to do an art and craft activity, one that I was rather skeptical about.

Being hyped on neatness, I don't favour the mess that comes with this kind of art work. But as a teacher you have to place the children's interest first.

So I went head on to start this art activity. It involves empty egg shells, that are filled with various colours of paint. Then I lay out the plastic sheet, so as to minimize the paint spill. After, dressing the kids with adult size old T shirts, they were now ready to have fun. The children threw, splattered and squished the eggs all over the place. Unfortunately, I am not able to up load pictures of then having fun. But here's the finished masterpiece. Splendid!

When I behold the beauty of their work, I realize that the enormous clean up was all worth it. Come to think of it, the art activity did have another element. A therapeutic one. The gestures and the release of energy that came with the body movements, really helped the children express themselves. At the same time release all the pent up energy within them.

I am so blessed and happy with these little ones, who bring even more joy into my life.
